Junior Presentation Event

Junior Presentation Event

Last Tuesday a presentation evening was held for the juniors for the pennant team selections and shirt presentations.  As well, the scholarship girls were presented with their shirts.

For the first time, the junior girls are fielding two teams.  The Division 2 team is Sienna McCulloch, Chloe Frediani, Tenae Bouwer, Katie Soel and Emmaline Curic.  Also featured in the photo is Lexi Livingstone who is making great progress with her game under the mentoring of all the girls.

The Division 3 team consists of Jade McCulloch, Eabha Cody, Kirby Branson, Scarlett Joy with Isla Shermann and Metta Guilfoyle-Black absent on holidays.  The Division 3 girls have recently completed their scholarship training and have started playing regular competitions.  All are looking forward to the challenge of match play.

The boys are fielding 2 teams as well.  Division 1 and 2.

Junior Pennant matches commence this coming Sunday 2nd February and run for 4 weeks with all the finals being hosted at Joondalup on Sunday 23rd February.  Well worth coming down to the course that day to witness some great matches.

Good luck to all our junior teams.

Wittenoom Cup – Winner from Joondalup

Wittenoom Cup – Winner from Joondalup

This past week, the annual Wittenoom Cup was held by the Albany Golf Club and attended by 24 or so members from Joondalup.  This weeklong festival of golf has been held for decades now and culminates in a 2-day stroke round held with 240 in the field and attended by approximately 170 visitors from around the state.

For those who haven’t played the Albany golf course it is a challenging, par 72, links style course that runs beside the ocean and is a monster to play in the prevailing winds.

So it is with great fanfare that we can announce that the Best Gross winner of this year’s event was our very own Ian McPherson on a score of 156.  Under the very strong and blustery conditions for both days this is a tremendous effort.

Congratulations Ian.

Congratulations to Oliver Holmes for his hole in one on Dune 4 last Saturday morning.

Oliver is a fairly new member and, as we all know, it takes a while to get used to our course.  However, we now know that Oliver is an expert on how to play Dune 4.

Well done and may there be many more.

Summer Cup 2025

Summer Cup 2025

The first “Major” of the year, The Kevin Smith Memorial Summer Cup, was held yesterday in glorious conditions.  The event attracted a full field with every effort made to maximise tee times without this impacting too much on the crossovers and speed of play.

The club acknowledges the tremendous sponsorship provided by Jody Henshaw of Fairway Finance and the continuing support of the Smith family who donated the 12 nearest the pins and participated in the event and the presentations.

Thank you too to Danielle and Kiara in the office for their hard work behind the scenes organising the competition and compiling the results.

This year the winner, on a score of 59 points, was Charlotte Hicks, seen here with Emma Elliot (nee Smith) and Kate Longman (nee Smith).  Runner ups were David Money and Jarrad Smith on 58 points.  Best Gross men was Michael Starkey and for women, Terri Davies.
