Captain and Vice Captain Announcement

Captain and Vice Captain Announcement

Captain and Vice-captain appointments

Dear Members,

The Board of Management has arrived at unanimous resolutions and recommendations to fill the casual vacancies created by the resignation of Captain and Vice-captain, John McMeekan and Don Ogilvie respectively.

These appointments remain in place until  the 2026 AGM.

Both of these positions will be declared vacant at the 2026 AGM and our normal nomination and election process will elect the new office bearers.

In the meantime, with immediate effect,  the Board has agreed to appoint Norma McCarthy as acting interim Captain and Syd Cabban as acting interim Vice -captain.

Norma will become the first female Captain in the history of the club.

This appointment marks a significant and positive step forward for our club, reflecting our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, leadership, and the evolution of our club’s traditions.

Norma brings a wealth of experience, passion for the game and a long-standing dedication and work ethic to the club and its members.

Syd Cabban is well known within the club for his enthusiastic work ethic, dedication and attention to detail.

We look forward to the year ahead under their leadership and invite all members to join us in congratulating Norma on this historic achievement.

Please join me in welcoming and supporting our new Captain and Vice-captain as they take on these distinguished roles.

Regards

Terry Pitsikas

Message from the President

Message from the President

Dear Members

It is with great disappointment that I need to advise members that both John McMeekan and Don Ogilvie have resigned from their respective positions as Captain and Vice- Captain with immediate effect.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank John both personally and on behalf of the club for all the time and effort that John has put into his role as Captain.

Although Don’s tenure as Vice-Captain was short I would also like to thank him for all his time and effort.

As a result of these resignations, I will be informing the Board of Management and as per our constitution Clause 7 (g);

“In case of any casual vacancy in the office of a Board member or in the membership of any committee the Board shall as soon as practicable and in any event within one month of the date of the occurrence of the vacancy appoint some eligible Member to fill such casual vacancy until the next Annual General Meeting.”

Once the Board of Management has determined who will be appointed to fill these casual vacancies I shall inform you.

Regards

Terry
