2025 Joondalup Club Championships

It was a cold, wet and very windy Sunday when our male and female club championship contenders teed off at 7am. The weather worsened after 11 holes as persistent rain squalls made the greens unplayable. Attempts at squeegeeing D3 green to progress play were futile and play was abandoned. Fortunately the rain cleared, and the wind helped dry the greens such that by midday championship play resumed on Dune with the A, B and C grade categories commencing on a two-tee start.

A band of hardy spectators saw some brilliant golf played under very difficult conditions.

Hole in One – Lake 8 – Carol Barnard

We are pleased to share some exciting news from a small group of six members who play together socially, known as the Love You Fairway Friends.

Since forming in August 2025, the group has already celebrated three hole-in-ones:

• Connie – 15 July 2025

• Alister – 4 September 2025

• Carol Barnard – 12 September 2025

Carol’s ace, achieved on 12 September while playing alongside Evelyn, was particularly memorable. Tee-ing off immediately after her playing partner, Carol’s shot rolled directly into the hole, creating an unforgettable moment.

The group commented: “We are so thrilled to share this remarkable record as part of our golfing journey together.”

We extend our warmest congratulations to Carol, and to the members of this small but accomplished group, on these outstanding achievements.

Hole in One – Dune 7

Congratulations to Alister McEwen on his first ever hole-in-one on Dune Hole 7!

After 62 years of playing golf, Alister struck the perfect shot-landing pin high just 6cm from the hole before spinning right into the cup.

Alister and his wife Connie are delighted to celebrate this special milestone and feel very fortunate to be members of Joondalup Golf Club, where they enjoy play four times a week in retirement.
