Ladies Opening Day

The Ladies Opening Day event was held recently on a Thursday with a well-attended 2 Person Ambrose competition followed by lunch in the clubhouse.

As is traditional, two male members of the Executive Committee were invited to join the Lady Captain’s group.  This year Norma McCarthy and Martina Gericke invited Graeme Hyland and Michael Robinson to the competition, the latter being surprised by how different the course plays from the Red tees.

An enjoyable day out for all followed by a superbly presented and delicious buffet lunch also attended by Roger Law, Joondalup Resort General Manager, who made a short speech thanking the Ladies of the club for their support and wishing everyone the best.

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the 2 person Ambrose event, won by Paris Rive and Catherine Loos.

Albany Classic Winners

Congratulations to WA state players George Barclay and Amie Phobubpa, who won the Albany Classic titles at the weekend

George won the men’s title by three strokes from Adam Baillie, while Amie edged Amanda Gan by one shot to win the women’s

The Holes in one are coming thick and fast these days!

Two more were recorded recently by Ray O’Hara on Saturday 15th February followed by Craig Smith on Wednesday 19th February.  Both making that special shot on Dune 7.

Connor equals course record

Following on from Connor McKinney’s recent runner up finish in the Victorian Open, he returned to Joondalup and proceeded to match the course record of 61 on the Lake-Dune combination.  5 pars, 12 birdies and a lone bogey for an impressive score playing off a plus 6 handicap.

Well done Connor, and all the best for your forthcoming tournaments.
