Men’s Pennants – Division 4 Wins the Flag!

It was a cold, miserable day at Melville Glades Golf Club on Sunday 27th, but our intrepid Div 4 team overcame all the weather could throw at them and defeated a valiant Hartfield 4½/2½.

Congratulations to Captain Gary Cooper and his team of Jackson Tait, Drew Dubberlin, Shane O’Connell, Ronan Nayar, Zach Nayar and Craig Smith.  Special mention to Josh Shaw, Dan Rees, Gavin McCarthy and Tim Hart who didn’t play the final but made significant contributions throughout the season and the caddies who braved the Sunday conditions.

This was the first Div 4 flag since the last win in 2008, so well done boys and enjoy the victory!

P.S. A well-kept secret was revealed at the victory celebrations – Jackson is off to the USA on Tuesday 29th July to commence a 4-year golf scholarship at the William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.  On behalf of your fellow Div 4 teammates, and the club, congratulations Jackson, and enjoy all that student life and the scholarship has to offer.

Christmas in July – A Mid-Year Winter Celebration

Christmas in July – A Mid-Year Winter Celebration

Christmas in July – A Mid-Year Winter Celebration

Eighty members and guests celebrated a memorable Christmas in July party, where the spirit of the season came alive with all the festive trimmings.

Christmas trees with ornaments set the scene for a night full of Christmas cheer. Tables were decorated with colourful bonbons, setting off raucous laughter as they were pulled open to reveal the usual humourless jokes and paper crowns.

The evening’s highlight was a sumptuous buffet, filled with festive favourites. Seafood, roast meats, seasonal vegetables, and hearty sides satisfied every craving, while the traditional Christmas pudding, rich and decadent, was served with lashings of custard — a true taste of Yuletide indulgence.

Keeping the energy high throughout the evening was the guitarist and our committee person Syd Cabban, nicely primed on the red nectar, who danced with everyone including a Christmas tree!!

Though the calendar says July, the room was filled with the magic of December. A sincere thank you to Terry and Norma, and all who joined and helped make this winter celebration one to remember.
